
Mountain Hawks Battle Loyola Saturday Afternoon

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's lacrosse will host Loyola on Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex for Dog Day. Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased here.Â
Lehigh enters Saturday's matchup with a 2-6 overall record and a 1-2 mark in league play. Loyola, still searching for its first win of the season, comes in at 0-8 overall and 0-3 in league play.
The Mountain Hawks are aiming to get back on track after a narrow 11-10 loss to Bucknell on March 22. With 59 seconds left in the game, the Bison were called for a penalty, granting Lehigh an extra-man opportunity. However, the Mountain Hawks couldn't capitalize, as four of their shots went wide, and they turned the ball over with just four seconds remaining.
Lehigh started strong, scoring the first two goals of the game. The first half was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams tied at six. at halftime. However, the Bison scored the first four goals of the second half, taking a 10-6 lead that Lehigh could not overcome.
First-year attackman Colin French (2G), junior attackman Andrew Kelly and senior midfielder Dakota Eierman have each led the way with two goals apiece.Â
Despite the loss, senior faceoff specialist Sean Dow controlled the X, winning 18 of 23 faceoffs (78.3%) and collecting 12 ground balls. The Simpsonville, S.C. native leads the league in faceoff percentage (65.2%), having gone 103-of-158 at the stripe, and also leads in ground balls per game (7.38). In his last three games, Dow has dominated, winning 57 of 68 faceoffs (83%).
Dow has been named Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week twice this season and was recently named to the 2025 Nike Midseason All-America Team, earning honorable mention honors alongside junior defenseman Richard Checo.
Checo ranks second in the league in caused turnovers per game (2.75), which is also third in the nation. The Oakton, Va. native has recorded at least one caused turnover in every game this season, tallying multiple caused turnovers in six of Lehigh's eight games.
Eierman leads Lehigh offensively with 19 points (16 goals, 3 assists), while Kelly ranks second on the team with 18 points (12 goals, 6 assists).
The Greyhounds are coming off a 11-10 loss to Lafayette, where the Leopards scored the game-winning goal with seven minutes left, and Loyola was unable to tie it. Barcy Quinn and Mason Cook both scored twice in the loss.
Matthew Minicus leads Loyola with a team-high 26 points (8 goals, 18 assists).
Lehigh is 2-17 all-time against Loyola, with the last win coming on April 28, 2023, when the Mountain Hawks pulled out a 15-9 victory. Lehigh suffered a 12-10 loss to Loyola last season on March 29.
Following Saturday's game, Lehigh will close out its non-league schedule with a game at Princeton on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
