
Albrecht Named Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball's fifth-year wing Maddie Albrecht was named the Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year, as announced Monday morning by the league.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team and Scholar Athlete of the Year, the student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) and be a starter or key player. Freshmen are not eligible for this honor.Â
Albrecht is the second Mountain Hawk in three seasons to be named the Scholar Athlete of the Year and the fourth player in program history to achieve the honor. This is the second straight season that the Billings, Mont. native landed on the Academic All-Patriot League team. She holds a 3.80 GPA in Biology and has landed on the Dean's List seven times. In addition to that, Albrecht has also done research for Iaccoca Institute.Â
Albrecht earned first team All-Patriot League honors on March 7. She is third in the league in scoring with 15.7 points per game, second in field goal percentage (52.3%), third in steals per game (1.8), fourth in three-point percentage (39.1%) and ninth in blocks per game (0.7). Albrecht has reached double figures in 27 of Lehigh's 30 games.
She has tallied two double-doubles on the year. Albrecht had a career-high game at Navy on Jan. 31, tallying 31 points. She has recorded six 20-point games this season.
Albrecht and the first-seeded Mountain Hawks will host No. 8 Boston University on Monday at 6 p.m. at Stabler Arena. Â Faculty and staff should purchase tickets through LehighTickets.com while students should swipe their Lehigh ID upon entry to Stabler Arena and their student ticket will be paid for by Student Auxiliary Services.
