BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 21 Lehigh closed out the dual meet season with a 25-11 victory over Arizona State Friday night inside Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall. The Mountain Hawks won the first six bouts, capped by a big win by graduate student heavyweight Owen Trephan over four-time All-American Cohlton Schultz to close out the dual season on a five-match winning streak.

Lehigh ends the dual season at 7-4.

The Mountain Hawks also honored their five-member senior class prior to the dual: Michael Beard, Malyke Hines, Thayne Lawrence, Drew Munch and Trephan.

The dual began at 157 with first-year Logan Rozynski defeating Michael Kilic 10-4. Rozynski scored a takedown in the first 10 seconds of the bout and put the match away with a third period takedown and ride out.

First-year Richie Grungo followed with a first period pin of Austin Scott at 165. Leading 3-0, Grungo brought Scott to his back, securing his second fall of the season at the 2:20 mark.
Sophomore Rylan Rogers followed with a 22-6 technical fall victory over Arturo Anaya at 174. Rogers scored five first period takedowns and added a sixth plus near fall in the second period to end the match at 3:52.

Reigning EIWA Wrestler of the Week, sophomore Caden Rogers made it four straight wins for Lehigh with a 3-2 decision over Shay Addison at 184. Rogers picked up a stalling point in the first period and a third period reversal against two Addison escapes.

Beard capped the first half of the dual with his 11th technical fall of the season, a 19-4 victory over Max Acciardi at 197. The match ended at 2:15, with Lehigh leading 22-0 at the midway point.

Coming out of the break sixth-ranked Trephan battled No. 5 Schultz in the featured bout of the evening. Trephan got in on a quality shot in the first period but was unable to finish as action went out of bounds. In the second, Trephan escaped early and got in on a similar single leg shot, this time lifting Schultz and doubling off to bring the Sun Devil down for three to go up 4-0. Schultz escaped in both the second and third periods, but Trephan held position to come away with the 4-2 decision, giving Lehigh a 25-0 advantage.
Arizona State (4-10) picked up its first win at 125 as defending NCAA Champion and second-ranked Richard Figueroa won an 8-3 decision over junior Sheldon Seymour with takedowns in each of the first two periods and a third period ride out.

First-year Mason Ziegler made his dual debut for Lehigh at 133 and fell 8-5 to Damian Moreno. A third-period scramble resulted in Moreno scoring a takedown and four-point near fall from a danger position and while Ziegler scored a late takedown of his own, he came up three points short.

The Sun Devils had a team point deducted during the match at 133 for control of mat area.

An early first-period takedown gave ASU's Emilio Ysaguirre a 4-1 decision over junior Carter Bailey at 141, and a takedown in front of the Sun Devil bench in the first period propelled Pierson Manville to an upset win over Hines 5-3 in the final bout at 149. Hines reversed early in the third period to get within 4-3 but couldn't pick up the takedown needed to prevail.

The Mountain Hawks will now shift focus to the 121st EIWA Championships, which Lehigh will host at Stabler Arena March 7-8.
The 2024-25 Lehigh wrestling season is presented by the Historic Hotel Bethlehem.
