Mountain Hawks Set to Head to Maryland for Matchup at Towson

BETHLEHEM Pa.- Lehigh (4-6) will close out the non league portion of its schedule Saturday at Towson. The game will begin at 12 p.m., with the game streaming on FloCollege. This will be the Mountain Hawks' first game in more than a week. In the week leading into final exams, Lehigh went 1-1, earning a win over Cornell and dropping a contest to Mount St. Mary's.
On Dec. 3 against Cornell, Lehigh earned a 66-52 victory over the Big Red. Senior Lily Fandre and first-year Leia Edwards each scored 21 points in the win. On Dec. 7 in the loss to Mount St. Mary's, Edwards again reached double figures with 17 points while adding 12 rebounds, averaging a double-double for the week.
Edwards was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the third straight week on Dec. 8. She became the first Mountain Hawk to earn the honor three weeks in a row since Kerry Kinek in 2013. On the season, Edwards has scored in double figures in seven of Lehigh's nine games and leads the team in both scoring (13.7) and rebounding (7.0).
Towson enters Saturday's game with a 5-5 record and is 3-1 at home. The Tigers snapped a three game losing streak with an 87-86 overtime win over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday, Dec. 17.
The Tigers are led by seniors Tilda Sjokvist, who averages 11.8 points and 3.8 assists per game, and India Johnston, who leads the team in scoring with 14 points per game. Towson is 0-1 when playing Patriot League teams this season, they lost to Loyola Maryland 64-63 in overtime on Dec. 4.
Following Saturday's game, Lehigh will break for the holidays before returning to begin Patriot League play on New Year's Eve against Army at West Point, N.Y.
