Lehigh Falls to Towson in Maryland

TOWSON, Md. - The Towson Tigers defeated the Lehigh Mountain Hawks 75-67 Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Lehigh fell to 4-7 on the season, while Towson improved to 6-5.
In the loss, Lily Fandre led the Mountain Hawks with 24 points and paced the team on the glass with seven rebounds. Jessie Ozzauto followed with 23 points, shooting 8-of-12 from the field and 3-of-5 from 3-point range.
Lehigh was once again shorthanded, with only seven players seeing action. For Towson, Thaila Shepard led the Tigers with 18 points, while India Johnston and Zoli Khaul also provided strong scoring performances, each finishing with 17 points.
How it happened
Towson jumped out to a hot start, scoring 27 first-quarter points while shooting 58 percent from the field and opening the game on an 11-3 run. Lehigh managed 14 points in the opening quarter and trailed by 13 after one, 27-14.
Jessie Ozzauto knocked down two 3 pointers in the second quarter and scored eight points in the frame, helping Lehigh outscore Towson 20-11 in the period. The surge allowed the Mountain Hawks to cut the deficit and head into halftime trailing by just four, 38-34.
Towson did not relinquish its lead in the second half. The Tigers built a 10-point advantage with three minutes remaining in the third quarter before Lehigh responded. A 3 pointer from Katie Hurt and a three point play by Lily Fandre cut the deficit in half heading into the fourth, 58-53. The fourth quarter was the lowest-scoring period of the game, as Towson's defense made it difficult for the Mountain Hawks to find consistent offense, sealing a 75-67 Tigers victory.
