BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh women's basketball takes the court at Stabler Arena Tuesday evening for the first time since it's Patriot League championship-clinching win last March as the Mountain Hawks kick off a three-game homestand against La Salle. Game time is set for 6 p.m., with the Mountain Hawks celebrating their 2025 Patriot League championship and NCAA Tournament appearance prior to tip off.
The Mountain Hawks went 1-1 over the season's opening week, starting with an 88-85 victory at Cincinnati on Nov. 4, Lehigh then fell to two-time defending MAAC champion Fairfield Saturday night. The Mountain Hawks fell behind the hot-shooting Stags by 14 points at halftime and then battled back within seven midway through the third quarter before ultimately falling 88-60.
Junior guard Jessie Ozzauto was named Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday. Ozzauto averaged 21.5 points and seven rebounds over the two games last week, including a career-high 25 in the victory at Cincinnati. She led Lehigh with 18 points at Fairfield. Behind Ozzauto, junior Gracyn Lovette and first-year Leia Edwards both finished with eight points.
Lehigh opens its home schedule, looking to continue a recent string of success in home openers. The Mountain Hawks have won their last 12 home openers and own a 34-17 record all-time in home openers. The last team to defeat Lehigh in a home opener was La Salle, as the Explorers spoiled the 2012-13 home opener 49-48.
La Salle opened the season at 2-0 with wins over Loyola and Saint Francis. The Explorers were 10-23 last season and reached the second round of the Atlantic 10 tournament.
Ashleigh Connor leads three Explorers scoring in double figures through two games at 21.0 points per game. Aryss Macktoon is next at 18.5 points, while preseason All-Atlantic 10 honoree Joan Quinn averages 12.5. Macktoon is also averaging 8.5 rebounds per contest.
La Salle leads the all-time series 13-5 and won last year's meeting 65-62 in Philadelphia. Lehigh won the last meeting at Stabler Arena, scoring a school-record 106 points and making 17 3-pointers in December 2023.
