Jimenez to Compete at U23 World Championships in Serbia

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh sophomore Audrey Jimenez will compete on the world stage for the third time in as many months. After winning a silver medal at the U20 World Championships in August and competing at the Senior World Championships in September, Jimenez will represent the United States in women's freestyle at 50 kg at the UWW U23 World Championships, set for Oct. 20-27 in Novi Sad, Serbia.
 
Jimenez went 3-1 with three technical superiority victories at the U20 World Championships, where she earned her fifth career age group world medal. She dropped a 6-3 decision in her opening bout at the Senior World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, and was not pulled back into repechage.
 
Women's freestyle action begins on Wednesday, Oct. 22 with Jimenez's 50 kg competition on the Wednesday schedule. Qualification round action begins at 4 a.m. ET with semifinals set for approximately 11 a.m. ET.
 
Day two for the 50 kg weight class begins with repechage matches, Oct. 23 at 4 a.m. ET with medal matches to follow at 12 p.m. ET.

While Jimenez competes in Serbia, her Mountain Hawk teammates are preparing for their first varsity season, which kicks off with the East Stroudsburg Open on Sunday, Nov. 2. Lehigh will host two home events, a tri-meet with East Stroudsburg and Delaware State on Dec. 4 and a Jan. 30 dual versus Presbyterian.
