Lehigh Faces Boston U. On Wednesday In Patriot League Semifinal Rematch

1/14/2025 3:45:00 PM | Men's Basketball

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's basketball hits the road once again to face the Boston University Terriers on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Wednesday's tilt with the Terriers will be Lehigh's third road contest in their last five outings to open Patriot League play.

Boston U. (8-9, 2-2 PL) is Lehigh's (6-9, 1-3 PL) least common Patriot League opponent, as the two teams have only met 25 times including 24 games since the Terriers joined the league in 2013-14. The Terriers have won seven of the last ten meetings dating back to the 2019-20 season. However, the Mountain Hawks won the last matchup on March 10, 2024 in a 21-point comeback overtime victory in the Patriot League Semifinal to help Lehigh advance to their first league championship game since 2017.

If Lehigh wins, they would earn their seventh win of the season and improve to 2-3 in Patriot League play. Brett Reed's all-time record against the Terriers would move to 11-14.

Four Mountain Hawks reached double-figures on Saturday afternoon at Stabler Arena for Lehigh men's basketball, but the visiting Army West Point Black Knights came away with a 74-69 away victory. Lehigh shot 41.0% (25-61) to Army West Point's 44.1% (26-59). However, Lehigh's 12.5% (3-24) to 25.9% (7-27) from distance was a significant difference. The Black Knights narrowly edged the Mountain Hawks 36-33 on the glass while Lehigh (76.2%, 16-21) and Army West Point (71.4%, 15-21) were nearly identical from the free throw line. The Mountain Hawks did find a 40-36 advantage in points in the paint. Tyler Whitney-Sidney led the team in scoring with 17 followed by Nasir Whitlock (15), Joshua Ingram (10) and Hank Alvey (10).

Head coach Joe Jones is in his 14th season at the helm of the Boston U. men's basketball program. The Terriers finished the 2023-24 season with a 16-17 record and 10-8 mark in Patriot League play. This season, the Terriers hold an 8-9 record and 2-2 mark in the league through the first four games. Sophomore Kyrone Alexander leads the Terriers in scoring at 12.6 points per game while sophomore Michael McNair joins him in double-figures at 10.8 points per game. McNair ranks fourth in the league in three-point percentage at 44.9% from distance.

Following Wednesday's game, the Mountain Hawks will conclude their season series against Loyola Maryland on Saturday, January 18 at 2 p.m. at Stabler Arena. The game is presented by RichMar Florist.

Wednesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and can be listened to on Fox Sports 94.7 FM and 1230 AM.
