BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball head coach Addie Micir has announced the addition of Maggie Gallagher to the Mountain Hawks' staff. In addition to being an assistant coach, she will serve as the recruiting coordinator.Â
"I am beyond thrilled to be returning to the Lehigh women's basketball program," said Gallagher. "Lehigh is an outstanding university that values academic excellence and athletic achievement, and I am so excited to get to work with the wonderful student-athletes. I would like to thank coach Addie Micir for giving me this incredible opportunity. Go Mountain Hawks!"
Gallagher comes to Lehigh after spending the last eight seasons at Marist, where she assisted with the development of the team's guards as well as scouting and recruiting. Gallagher brings a championship pedigree with her, having led the Red Foxes to two regular season MAAC championships and a MAAC Tournament title in 2021.
"We are so thrilled to have Maggie Gallagher back on staff at Lehigh," said Micir. "Maggie fits the ethos of our WE mentality. She is a diligent worker who brings energy and a growth mindset to everything she does. Her time at Marist as a player and coach has prepared her well to recruit to and coach in our motion system. Maggie is an educator who will be able to model everything that our Lehigh women's basketball culture is all about. We're excited to have her as a teammate!"
In 2021, Gallagher was selected to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Thirty Under 30 program. The WBCA Thirty Under 30 program was created to recognize 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches aged 30 and under at all levels of the game.
The Stormville, N.Y., native played at Marist before coaching the Red Foxes, graduating in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in communications. Gallagher was a part of a Marist team that made it to the NCAA Tournament in three consecutive seasons. The former Marist team captain also excelled in the classroom, earning MAAC All-Academic honors three times while also landing on the Dean's List every year.Â
Gallagher is no stranger to Lehigh having spent the 2015-16 season as the director of basketball operations for the Mountain Hawks. She then received her master's in educational leadership from Lehigh in 2020.Â
