Lehigh Hosts Lafayette On Thursday, Travels to Bucknell on Sunday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Rivalry, presented by the Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute, returns to Bethlehem as Lehigh women's tennis hosts Lafayette on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks are looking for their 21st straight win against the Leopards.Â
Lehigh enters Thursday's match with an 11-5 record (2-2 PL). The Leopards are 11-7 (1-1 PL). The Mountain Hawks are coming off of a 4-3 loss to Loyola. Lehigh dropped the doubles point and won the next three points, but the Greyhounds clawed back, scoring the final three points of the day to secure the victory.Â
Hamsa Javagal earned a Patriot League Honorable Mention on Monday after picking up a 6-4, 7-5 victory at the No. 1 spot. Maggie Forkner and Allyce Gaborik also picked up singles wins against the Greyhounds. Forkner posts a team-best 3-1 Patriot League singles record. The only league singles match Forkner lost was to Navy.Â
The Mountain Hawks picked up a 5-2 win over the Leopards last season to make it 20 consecutive wins.Â
Following Thursday's match, Lehigh will travel to Lewisburg, Pa., to take on Bucknell on Sunday. The Bison are 8-10 this season are still searching for their first league win after starting 0-3. Bucknell is on a three-match losing streak, most recently falling to Colgate in a 4-3 loss on March 30. Lehigh suffered a 4-3 loss to the Bison last season.Â
