Lehigh Punches Ticket Into First Patriot League Semifinal Since 2018, Ties Progam Win Total

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The fifth-seeded Lehigh women's tennis team booked its first trip to the Patriot League semifinals since 2018 after defeating fourth-seeded Loyola 4-1 Friday morning at Navy. The Mountain Hawks also improved to 14-7 on the season, which is tied for the most wins in program history, which was set in 1988. 

Lehigh started the match off strong, winning 2-of-3 doubles matches to secure the first point and  would not look back from there. Anushka Dania and Megha Dania rolled to a perfect 6-0 victory at the No. 2 doubles spot to open up the match, and Allyce Gaborik and Maggie Forkner secured the doubles win with a 7-5 victory over Lauren Manwiller and Christina Richiez at the No. 1 doubles spot. 

Lehigh opened up singles play with two straight victories. Playing at the No. 1 singles spot, Hamsa Javagal defeated Olivia Tracey 6-3, 6-2. Giselle Vlassis put Lehigh up 3-0 after only dropping two games in two sets at the No. 6 singles spot. Megha Dania clinched the win for the Mountain Hawks in three sets at the No. 4 singles spot. Dania won the first set 6-1, dropped the next set 6-2 and rolled to a 6-4 victory in the final set to secure the victory for Lehigh. 

The Greyhounds lone point of the day came from Anna Rico at the No. 5 singles spot as she bested Anushka Dania 7-5, 6-1. 

Forkner was tied with Loyola's Richiez at one in the third set at the No. 2 singles spot after losing the first set 7-5 and taking the next set 6-4. Gaborik also didn't get to finish out her match before it was called. Gaborik took the first set 7-6 (8) and was up 5-1 in the next set before the Mountain Hawks sealed the win. 

The Mountain Hawks will play No. 1 Boston University on Saturday in the semifinals at 10 a.m. The Terriers won the first meeting earlier this season as they defeated the Mountain Hawks 4-0 on April 13 in the regular season finale.
