Mountain Hawks Battle No. 17/18 Colgate Saturday Afternoon

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse will play its fifth ranked opponent this season when the Mountain Hawks battle No. 17/18 Colgate Saturday at 4 p.m. in Hamilton, N.Y. Lehigh enters Saturday's game with a 5-6 overall record and a 3-2 Patriot League record. The Raiders are 7-4 (4-1 PL). If Lehigh wins on Saturday, it would mark the first ranked win of the season for the Mountain Hawks.
Lehigh is coming off a 9-7 win over Holy Cross. The Mountain Hawks were trailing 4-2 at halftime, but outscored the Crusaders 7-2 in the second half to pull out the win. Senior midfielder Quinn Armstrong led the way with a game-high four goals. Armstrong's four goals marked a career-high. The Baltimore native is third on the team in scoring with 21 points on 16 goals and five assists.Â
Richard Checo was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on April 8 after tallying nine caused turnovers and five ground balls last week. Checo has now caused 26 turnovers. The Oakton, Va. native is fourth in the NCAA in caused turnovers per game (2.36). Checo caused a season-high six turnovers in the win over the Crusaders.
Junior faceoff specialist Sean Dow earned a Patriot League Honorable Mention following another dominating week at the stripe. In the last four games, Dow has won 60-of-86 attempts (69.7%) at the faceoff "x." Dow has won 54.2% of his faceoff battles this season.Â
Senior attackman Scott Cole has scored a team-high of 31 goals on 25 goals and six assists. Cole has recorded at least one goal in 23 straight games. Andrew Kelly is second on the team in scoring with 25 points on 19 goals and six assists.Â
The Raiders are coming off of a 14-11 win over then No. 5 Army West Point. The Raiders won three Patriot League Weekly awards following the win over the Black Knights. Hunter Drouin was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, Matt LaCombe earned the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week award and Liam Connor was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week. Drouin leads the way for Colgate with 39 points (29 G, 10A).
Colgate leads the all-time series 29-22. Lehigh defeated the Raiders 15-8 last season. Cole led the way with a game-high of five goals last season. The last time the Mountain Hawks played at Colgate, they suffered a 9-8 loss in overtime.Â
Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+.Â
Following Saturday's game against Colgate, Lehigh returns home for the home finale against Boston University on April 20 at 12 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex.Â
