
Lehigh and Loyola to Square Off Friday Night in Baltimore

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse heads to Baltimore to take on Loyola on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Ridley Athletic Complex. The Mountain Hawks are looking to make it two wins in a row after picking up a 9-8 win over Bucknell on March 23. Lehigh enters with a 4-4 record (2-2 PL), and the Greyhounds are 3-6 (1-2 PL). Friday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+.Â
The Bison cut Lehigh's lead to one with 33 seconds remaining, but senior Sean Dow won the next faceoff, and the Mountain Hawks were able to hold on for the win. Dow was named the Patriot League Faceoff Specialist of the Week on March 25 following his performance against the Bison, winning a career-high of 16 faceoffs on 21 attempts. Dow also picked up a career-high of 11 ground balls. The Simpsonville, S.C. native owns a 48.6% win percentage at the stripe.Â
First-year midfielder Brian Mullen earned a Patriot League Honorable Mention after scoring a season-best of two goals in the win over the Bison. Mullen and Quinn Armstrong (2G) were the only players to net multiple goals for the Mountain Hawks. Freddie Amato (1G, 2A), Scott Cole (1G), Tyler Lahey (1G), Luke McAuliffe (1G) and EJ Vasile (1G) all scored a goal apiece.Â
Senior goalkeeper Nick Pecora made 10 saves against the Bison. Pecora has amassed double digit saves in every game, and his 13.50 saves per game are the 10th most in the NCAA. Pecora owns a 53.5% save percentage through eight games played.Â
Lehigh's defense has allowed single digit goals in four games this season. Richard Checo anchors the Mountain Hawks with a team-high of 15 caused turnovers. McAuliffe and Raul Ochotorena are tied for second on the team for the most caused turnovers with eight apiece.Â
Not only is Lehigh coming off of a Patriot League win, but so are the Greyhounds. Loyola defeated Lafayette 18-10 on March 23. Matthew Minicus was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week on March 25 after scoring a career-high of nine points (4G, 5A) in the win over the Leopards. Minicus, Evan James and Adam Poitras lead the way for the Greyhounds with 27 points apiece.Â
Lehigh's 15-19 win over Loyola last season marked just the second win over the Greyhounds in program history. Cole scored a game-high of seven goals in the win over Loyola in 2023. The Greyhounds currently lead the all-time series 16-2.Â
Following Friday's game, the Mountain Hawks will close out the non-league slate at Princeton on Tuesday at 7 p.m.Â
