Mountain Hawks Defeat Colgate 6-1 on Senior Day

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -  Celebrating its two seniors, Anushka Dania and Megha Dania, the Lehigh women's tennis team rolled to a 6-1 win over Colgate Sunday afternoon on senior day at the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center. With the win, the Mountain Hawks improved to 11-4 (2-1 PL), which marks the most wins since the 2017-18 season when they finished 11-10. The Raiders dropped to 8-8 (1-1 PL). 

The Mountain Hawks controlled the tempo from the start, picking up the first point of the day with a sweep in doubles. Maggie Forkner and Allyce Gaborik picked up their second win in doubles in as many days with a 6-3 victory. Forkner and Gaborik also were the first doubles pair to win their match, doing so in just 33 minutes. Hamsa Javagal and Audrey Harrington picked up a 6-3 win on court No. 3 and the Danias completed the sweep with a 6-2 win on court No. 2. 

Forkner only lost one game and picked up the first singles point at the No. 2 spot with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Carina Cristobal.  Javagal followed up Forkner's dominance at top flight with a 6-1 victory in both sets. 

Anushka Dania clinched the win for the Mountain Hawks at the No. 5 spot with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Eliza Podlas. Megha Dania had a three-set victory over Addie Eklund at the No. 4 spot after winning the first set 7-6, losing the next set 6-3, and pulling off the victory with a 10-6 win in the final set. Hannah Letzer picked up the final point for Lehigh at the No. 6 spot, besting Sasha Herman 7-5, 6-3

Gaborik dropped her match at the No. 3 spot, falling 6-2, 6-1 to Amelia Galin.

Next up, the Mountain Hawks will travel to Baltimore for a Friday match against Loyola at 3 p.m.
