Mountain Hawks Welcome Bucknell for Saturday Showdown

BETHLEHEM, Pa - Lehigh men's lacrosse returns home to the Ulrich Sports Complex on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against Bucknell. The Mountain Hawks are looking to bounce back against the Bison after suffering a 18-12 loss to No. 1 Army West Point on March 16. Lehigh held an early 2-1 lead against the Black Knights, but Army closed out the quarter on a 5-0 run and remained in control for the next three quarters.Â
Saturday's game will broadcast on ESPN+. Students will get in for free, while others can purchase tickets here or by calling 610-7LU-GAME. Â
Lehigh comes into Saturday's game with a 3-4 (1-1 PL) record. The Bison are 2-6 (1-2 PL) after losing their last three games. Bucknell's lone league win came on March 2 against Holy Cross.Â
Despite the loss to the Black Knights, senior goalkeeper Nick Pecora was outstanding, recording a career-high of 19 saves. Pecora ranks seventh in the NCAA in saves per game (14.00). He has tallied double-digit saves in each of Lehigh's seven games this season. Pecora also owns a 53.3% save percentage.Â
Senior attackman Scott Cole registered a team-high of five points against Army after scoring three goals while dishing out two assists. Sophomore attackmen Andrew Kelly (3G, 1A) and EJ Vasile (3G) also recorded hat tricks. Vasile's three goals against Army marked a career-high.Â
Cole leads the way for Lehigh with 24 points this season (21 G, 31A). The Dallas, Texas native is averaging a hat trick. Kelly is second on the team in scoring with 16 points (14 G, 2A). The Blue Bell, Pa. native has also been efficient, recording a 60.9% shot percentage, which ranks first in the nation. Rounding out the top four scorers on the team are sophomore attackman Grant Rodny (10 G, 2A) and senior midfielder Quinn Armstrong (6G, 4A).Â
Lehigh has used three different faceoff specialists this season in senior Matt Brock, junior Sean Dow and first-year Connor Riley. Brock is 14-of-30 at the stripe, Dow is 58-of-132, and Riley is 8-of-22. All of Riley's eight faceoff wins came against Army.Â
Bucknell is also looking to bounce back on Saturday after falling 17-4 to Colgate on March 16. Leading scorer Connor Davis was held to just one goal. Davis has put up a team-high of 21 points (19G, 2A). The Bison have used four different goalkeepers this season. Max Nolan has seen the most action in the net, starting all eight games. Nolan owns a 41.4% save percentage.Â
The Mountain Hawks are 19-38 all-time against the Bison. Despite the losing record against Bucknell, Lehigh has won the last four meetings. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Bison 11-8 last season after ending the game on a 3-0 run. Cole registered a team-high of six points (3G, 3A).
Following Saturday's game, Lehigh will head to Baltimore, Md. to face Loyola on March 29 at 7 p.m.
