Mountain Hawks Pick Up 4-1 Victory Over Morgan State

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men's tennis returned to action from the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center one final time before spring break, hosting the Morgan State Bears for a dual meet. The Mountain Hawks played to clinch and defeated the Bears 4-1.
"This was a great resilient win for the guys," said head coach Craig Schwartz. "Morgan State really pushed us today, but we were able to stick to our game plan and execute."
Lehigh (4-5) once again earned an opening doubles point over Morgan State (1-3), their fifth dual in a row doing so. Aristotelis Bezianis and Jackson Morash earned a 6-2 victory over their MSU opponents just before Sean Jaeger and Jordan Paul picked up a 6-2 win of their own. Lehigh's wins at numbers two and three halted play in the doubles match at number one, awarding the meet's first point to the Mountain Hawks.
Lehigh also struck first in singles play with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 win from Jaeger at number four. Jaeger has now won each of his last three singles matches in a row. Shortly after, Bezianis secured a 6-2, 6-2 victory at number three to put his team ahead 3-0 over the Bears.
At the number one spot, Matt Kleiman squared off against reigning MEAC Player of the Year Mikeal Carpenter, who picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win to get his team on the board. Following Kleiman's result, matches began at numbers five and six, as Marc Blekhman's match at number two seemed to be heading for a third set. However, Blekhman's match would not be completed, as Morash put the finishing touches on the Lehigh victory with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win at number five to clinch the dual.
"It was awesome to see Jackson get the clinch for us," said Schwartz. "We will enjoy this win tonight and get in the right mindset for a tough Marist team on the road tomorrow."
The Mountain Hawks travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. as part of a men and women's doubleheader against the Marist Red Foxes. The men's match will begin at 5 p.m.
