
Mountain Hawks Open up 2024 Home Opener against Villanova

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse returns home for the first time in the 2024 season on Saturday at 11 a.m. against Villlanova. Admission is free Saturday at the Ulrich Sports Complex, and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+.Â
The Mountain Hawks are 2-2 this season after picking up a 11-6 win over Dartmouth on Feb. 26 in a neutral-site game held at Trinity College. The Wildcats are 1-2 after besting Colgate 15-9 on Feb. 24.Â
Senior goalkeeper Nick Pecora was outstanding in Lehigh's win against the Big Green. Pecora recorded a season-high of 15 saves and finished with a career-high of a career-high save percentage (71.2%). Pecora owns a 52.7% save percentage in Lehigh's four games this season.Â
Senior attackman Scott Cole tallied a game-high of five goals and was instrumental in securing the win for Lehigh, scoring all five goals in the second half. The Mountain Hawks trailed the Big Green 5-3 at halftime, but Lehigh went on an 8-1 run in the second half to come away with the victory. Cole has now scored at least a goal in 16 consecutive games. Cole moved into ninth place all-time for goals scored, tying Andrew Pettit with 105. He needs just one more goal to move into eighth all-time and three more goals to move into seventh all-time.Â
Sophomore attackman Grant Rodny also put up multiple goals against the Big Green, scoring two. Rodny has put up six goals and one assist. Junior attackman Andrew Kelly leads the NCAA in shooting percentage (70%).Â
Junior faceoff specialist Sean Dow owns a 45% win percentage at the stripe. Dow won 9-of-19 faceoffs against the Big Green.Â
The Wildcats are led by Matt Licata, who scored 13 points (8G, 5A). Licata put up four points and three goals in the win over Colgate. Villanova goalkeeper Anthony Wilson owns a 40.3% save percentage.Â
Lehigh is 14-19 all-time against Villanova. The last time these two teams met was in 2021, where the Mountain Hawks lost 16-8.Â
After Saturday's game, Lehigh will host Navy in the Patriot League opener on March 9 at 3:30 p.m.Â
