Lehigh Kicks Off Spring Campaign With 36 Holes At Atlantic Invitational

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Playing in its first two rounds of the spring season, the Lehigh women's golf team shot 618 Monday on day one of the Atlantic Invitational at Fountains Country Club. The Mountain Hawks were fourth after an opening round 304 and then shot 314 in Monday's afternoon round.
Senior Venecia Zaia was the most consistent Mountain Hawk on Monday, carding rounds of 76 and 75 to move into a tie for 14th place at 141. Zaia carded three birdies on the day including a pair in round two.
First-year Stefania Fedun also carded two rounds in the 70s and is tied for 20th at 155 (78-77). Fedun had three birdies in round one and added a fourth in the afternoon.
The low round of the day came from sophomore Yuki Zhu, who opened with a morning 74. Zhu shot 82 in the afternoon and sits in 24th place at 156. She made a pair of birdies in the morning and made one in her afternoon round.
Junior Madison Pineda is tied for 28th place with a 36-hole total of 159 (76-83). Pineda birdied two of her first four holes of the day and finished with three total birdies.
Lehigh's fifth scoring player is first-year Olivia Lu, who shot 163 (83-80) and is tied for 31st place. Lu made her lone birdie of the day in round one.
First-year Bella Scanapicco is competing as an individual and also shot 163 (78-85) to join Lu as part of a tie for 31st. Scanapicco matched Fedun with four birdies, including three in round one.
Arkansas State leads the team race with a 36-hole total of 574 (284-290) to lead Quinnipiac by 26 strokes.
The Red Wolves also have the individual leader in Madison Tenore, who at three under par 139, leads Marshall's Emily McLatchey by three strokes.
The Atlantic Invitational concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes of play.
