Lehigh Hits the Road for Midweek Matchup at Drexel

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball hits the road once again for a matchup at Drexel on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Philadelphia. The Mountain Hawks come into Wednesday's game with a 6-2 overall record and the Dragons are 2-3. Wednesday's game will air on FloHoops.

Lehigh is on a two-game winning streak after beating Marist and Valparaiso to take home its first Christmas City Classic Championship since 2010. The Mountain Hawks downed the Beacons 77-59 in the championship game on Dec. 1.

Senior guard Ella Stemmer paced the way with a season-high 21 points. She also hit a season-tying five three pointers. Stemmer continues to climb up in the record books, recording 167 career three-pointers, the fifth-most in program history. She passed Erica Prosser '11 (166 three pointers) in Sunday's game. 

The Ann Arbor, Mich., native was also named the MVP of the Christmas City Classic after averaging 16.0 points per game in Lehigh's two games. She is currently averaging 13.5 points per game and 3.0 rebounds per game. Stemmer also is first in the Patriot League with 2.9 three-pointers per game and third in three-point percentage (41.8%). 

Joining Stemmer on the All-Tournament Team was fifth-year guard Maddie Albrecht. Albrecht averaged 11.0 points and 5.5 rebounds and three in the Christmas City Classic. The Billings, Mont., native is putting up a team-high 15.0 points per game and a team-high 6.1 rebounds per game.

Junior forward Lily Fandre is also averaging double figures, scoring 11.5 points per game. She is also second in the team in rebounds with 4.1 boards per game. Sophomore guard Gracyn Lovette got her first start against Valparaiso and had an amazing game, scoring four points while dishing out a career-high four assists and three blocks.

The Dragons are coming off of a 86-78 overtime loss to Penn State. The Nittany Lions outscored Drexel 12-4 in overtime to secure the win. Amaris Baker and Chloe Hodges finished with 20 points apiece. Baker is averaging a team-high 17.3 points per game. Deja Evans is next with 11.2 points per game. 

Lehigh is 10-17 all-time against Drexel. The Mountain Hawks defeated the Dragons 58-57 last season after Fandre got fouled at the last second and hit a game-sealing free throw. Stemmer led the way in the win with 15 points. 

Following Lehigh's game at Drexel, Lehigh will once again hit the road for a matchup at Cornell on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Ithaca, N.Y.
