Lehigh to Visit No. 12 Vermont on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. The Lehigh men's soccer team squares up against No. 12 Vermont on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Burlington, Vt. Saturday's game will air on ESPN+. 

This is the Mountain Hawks first ranked opponent since 2021, when they tied with No. 4 West Virginia at home. Lehigh is 0-1-1 all-time against Vermont. 

The first matchup came in 1997, and the latest was in 2021, where the Mountain Hawks hosted the Catamounts,and were defeated 3-0. 

Lehigh comes into the match with a record of 0-2-2, while the Catamounts are 3-1-0, with their only loss coming to No. 22 Akron. 

The Mountain Hawks are coming off of a tough 1-0 loss to La Salle on Monday, where the Explorers found the game-winning goal in the 85th minute after goalkeeper Blake Koski received a yellow card for a foul in the box.

Despite the 1-0 victory for the Explorers, it was a defensive battle, with both teams recording just five shots and only one shot on goal. 

Through four games played, Lehigh is averaging .75 goals per game and giving up 1.25 goals per game. 

Vermont is scoring  1.25 goals per game and holding opponents to just .25 goals per game. 

Carter Johnson leads the way for the Catamounts with two goals and one assist. 

Following the matchup against Vermont, Lehigh will head north again when the Mountain Hawks open up Patriot League play against Boston University, Saturday, Sept. 16 at 5 p.m.
