
Lehigh Wraps up Three Day Invitational at Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Lehigh women's tennis team competed at the Bill & Sandra Moore invitational this weekend, which was hosted by Navy. The invitational marked the first competition of the fall season for the Mountain Hawks.
While the Mountain Hawks did not win any of the main flights in singles and doubles, there were bright spots in the tournament.Â
The duo of Bella Peters and Avery Hopkey won the consolation finals out of Flight C, defeating Evelyn Snyder and Madison McCarty of Mary Washington 6-1.Â
Hamsa Javagal and Maggie Forkner were both in Flight A for singles. Javagal won her first match 6-1, 6-3, but lost in the quarterfinals.
Forkner was defeated in her first match, but she battled back to punch her ticket to the consolation semifinals, where she ultimately was defeated.
In Flight B, Gissele Vlassis lost her first match 6-3, 6-4. Allyce Gaborik won her first match in the round of 16 6-1, 10-7, but was defeated in the quarterfinals.Â
Vlassis made it all the way to the consolation semifinals, but lost 6-4, 6-3 to Hana McKinney of Monmouth.
Megha Dania and Hannah Letzers were the two Mountain Hawks in Flight C. Letzer won the first set 6-2, but lost the next two ses 6-2 and 10-4.Â
Dania had a bye, but lost in the quarterfinals. Dania came back after a tough match and won the consolation finals, defeating Emily Beckner of Mary Washington 6-2 and 6-0.Â
Lehigh had two representatives in Flight D. Both Audrey Harrington and Anushka Dania won their round of 16 matches, but Harrington lost her quarterfinal matchup while Anushka won her semifinal matchup.Â
Javagal and Harrington were both doubles partners out of Flight. A. While they won 7-5 in the round of 16, they were defeated 6-0 by Emily Tannenbaum and Sia Chaudry from Navy.Â
The Danias were both in the consolation doubles out of Flight A along with Allyce Gaborik and Maggie Forkner. Both advanced to the consolation semifinals.
The Danias lost 6-1 to Kate Lee and Parvathi Shanker of Navy, while Gaborik and Forkner lost 6-3 to Lauren Splett and Brooklyn Siegel of George Mason..Â
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Sept.16- Sept.17Â when they host Army, Saint Joseph's and Colgate in the Lehigh Hidden Dual.
