Three Mountain Hawks Earn USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Three Lehigh men's lacrosse players were recognized by USA Lacrosse Magazine as All-AmericansTuesday morning. Fifth-year senior faceoff specialist Mike Sisselberger was named a second-team All-American, while junior attackman Scott Cole and first-year defenseman Richard Checo were named honorable mention All-Americans.Â
This is Sisselberger's third straight season being named an All-American. Sisselberger once again had a dominating season. The Center Valley, Pa., native is second in the nation in faceoff win percentage (65.2%) and second in the nation in ground balls per game (11.20). Sisselberger won 255 faceoffs this season and broke his own school record with 168 ground balls. Sisselbeger also has the most faceoff wins in program history. Throughout his career, he has won 742 faceoffs and recorded 493 ground balls.
Cole had an incredible season for Lehigh. The junior attacker was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, becoming the first Lehigh player to win the award since 2015. Cole had 49 goals and 26 assists for a team-high 75 points. Cole ranks sixth in the nation in points per game (5.00) and ninth in the nation in goals per game (3.27). Cole had 14 multiple-point games this season. He had three seven-point games this season, which is tied for a career-high.Â
Checo is fresh off of a record-breaking season in his first-year of collegiate lacrosse. Checo caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls in his first game and then continued to put up monster numbers. Checo caused 54 turnovers this season, which is a single-season record for Lehigh. It's also the third-most caused turnovers in a season for NCAA Division I men's lacrosse. Checo also picked up 64 ground balls and dished out four assists. He caused at least one turnover in every single game and has 14 games where he caused multiple turnovers.Â
