Mountain Hawks Roll To 13th Straight Win Over Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team claimed the first five points in a 5-2 win over rival Lafayette Tuesday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks swept the doubles matches and won the first five singles matches to post their 13th consecutive win over the Leopards.

The win moves Lehigh back over .500 at 10-9 overall and evens the Mountain Hawks' Patriot League record at 3-3.

Lehigh clinched the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 victories. At the top flight senior Matt Kleiman and sophomore Marc Blekhman defeated Arman Ganchi and Jake Magnusson while at No. 3 senior Steven Nazaroff teamed with sophomore Luke Donovan to defeat Nash Lovallo and Brady Wisdom.

The Mountain Hawks made it a clean sweep of doubles as senior Michael Bukhalo and sophomore Sean Jaeger won a tiebreak 7-3 over Davis Esslinger and Nick McKenzie.

In singles play, Kleiman defeated Ganchi 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 and first-year Aristotelis Bezianis defeated Lovallo 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 to put Lehigh up 3-0. Wins from Blekhman over McKenzie at No. 3 and Jaeger over Sam Gelber at No. 6 secured the win for Lehigh at 5-0.

Lafayette claimed the final two matches, winning a 10-point super tiebreak at No. 4 singles and two tiebreaks at No. 2 singles.

The Mountain Hawks will close out the regular season on Saturday when they welcome Bucknell to the Ulrich Varsity Courts on Senior Day and Alumni Day. Match time is set for noon.
