Pecora Named Goalkeeper of the Week, Lehigh set to Play Binghamton on Tuesday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse's NIck Pecora was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.Â
This is Pecora's first Patriot League weekly award of his career. He had a phenomenal performance in Saturday's 13-10 win versus Navy, tallying a career-high of 16 saves and finishing with a 61.5% save percentage, which marked a season-high for the junior.
This is the first time a Lehigh men's lacrosse player has won the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week since James Spence in 2021.Â
Pecora and the Mountain Hawks are set to take on Binghamton on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Lehigh is coming off of a big Patriot League win to start league play. The Mountain Hawks outscored the Midshipmen 5-2 in the final frame to hold onto the win.Â
Lehigh improved to 3-1 on the season (1-0 PL), and Binghamton is 3-1. The Bearcats defeated St.John's 13-12 on March 4.Â
First-year Richard Checo and Scott Cole earned Patriot League honorable mentions after their performances this past weekend. Checo had another outstanding performance, tallying five caused turnovers and picking up five ground balls. Checo currently leads the nation in caused turnovers (4.50).
Cole dished out two assists and scored three goals. Four of Cole's five points were scored in the second half. Cole was instrumental in helping Lehigh come away with the victory.Â
Christian Mule' needs seven more goals to eclipse the 100 goal mark. He leads Lehigh in points through five games, scoring 22 points. Mule' also had recorded five points in the win on Saturday.
Binghamton is led by Thomas Greenblatt. He's recorded 14 points this season and finished with a season-high of five points in their most recent win.
Lehigh is 3-0 all-time against Binghamton. The two schools met last season in Binghamton. Lehigh defeated the Bearcats 12-10. Mule' recorded a hat trick in the second quarter to help lift the Mountain Hawks to victory.
After hosting Binghamton, Lehigh will travel to Worcester to take on Holy Cross March 11 at 2 p.m.
