BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh baseball team (11-8) earned a pair of victories over Saint Peter's (1-16) at J. David Walker Field at Legacy Park Saturday as the Mountain Hawks won game one 4-1 in seven innings and followed that up with a 12-0 victory in game two of the doubleheader.

Game 1 – W, 4-1
Lehigh scored its first run when sophomore Jake Whitlinger doubled down the right field line that scored Riley Davis to give the Brown and White a 1-0 in the third inning.

The Mountain Hawks then scored three runs in the fourth frame, starting when fifth-year Gerard Sweeney hit an RBI double to right-center field to score fifth-year Casey Rother to make it 2-0. Fifth-year Joe Gorla then singled through the right side to plate Sweeney and junior Andrew Nole doubled down the left field line to score Gorla as Lehigh led 4-0 after four innings.

After two scoreless innings, Saint Peter's was able to get one run across the plate when Jeff Massicotte singled up the middle to score Nick Markantonatos. That's all that the Peacocks were able to muster as Lehigh defeated Saint Peter's 4-1 in seven innings.

Seven Mountain Hawks accounted for the seven hits in the game, while Whitlinger, Sweeney, Gorla and Nole all recorded an RBI.

The fifth-year left-handed Luke Rettig (W, 4-0) got the start in game one for the day and tossed a scoreless six innings with two hits and seven strikeouts. Rettig moved into third all-time in career strikeouts with 234 and needs six more to take over second all-time. Senior right-hander Ryan Deom entered the game in relief and threw one inning and allowed one run on three hits.

Game 2 – W, 12-0
The Mountain Hawks started scoring early in game two, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first when sophomore Rafe Perich singled down the left field line to score Whitlinger and Rother doubled to left center to bring Perich home for a 2-0 lead.

In the second inning, Perich doubled to left-center to score Whitlinger again to take a 3-0 advantage. Rother then hit his sixth home run of the season for a 2-run homer and put the Mountain Hawks up 5-0 after two innings.

Lehigh continued to pad its lead by scoring a run in the third, fourth and fifth innings, extending its lead to 8-0. The Brown and White tacked on three runs in the seventh before adding another run in the eighth to put the game at the final score of 12-0.

Perich went 4-for-5 on the day with a double, three RBIs and four runs scored. Rother went 3-for-5 with five RBIs, a home run and two doubles and now sits in sole possession of second place all-time with 23 career home runs. He is just six home runs away from becoming the all-time leader.

Whitlinger and first-year Ryan Cochran each produced two hits while Whitlinger scored three runs and Cochran scored once. Four other Mountain Hawks reached on a base hit with first-years Dom Patrizi and Owen Walewander each recording and RBI.

Three pitchers combined for a two-hit shutout as sophomore right-hander Alex Bouchard (W, 2-1) was on the mound to start game two. Bouchard threw five innings and allowed just one hit and struck out five batters. Sophomore right-hander Val Taddei entered the game in relief and tossed two innings of work and allowed just one hit with a walk and one strikeout while the right-handed senior Ben Christian threw the final two innings and did not allow a hit and struck out three Peacocks.
