Lehigh to Take on No.3/4 Cornell in First Road Test of the Year

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's lacrosse team will head to Ithaca, N.Y., for its first road test of the year when the Mountain Hawks take on the No. 3/4 Cornell Big Red at 12 p.m. on Schoellkopf Field on Saturday.
Lehigh comes into Saturday's game with a record of 2-0. Cornell is 1-0. The Mountain Hawks defeated Fairfield and Hobart at home in the first two games of the season. The Big Red played Albany last week, winning 12-10
Lehigh was down 10-4 against the Statesmen last week but ended the game on a 15-3 run to hold onto its second straight win of the year. Scott Cole had six points (4G, 2A). All of Cole's goals came in the second half. Cole was named a Patriot League honorable mention after his performance.
Nick Pecora was also named a Patriot League honorable mention for the second straight week after tallying 12 saves and finishing the day with a 48% save percentage.
Lehigh hosted Cornell last year, ultimately falling 9-5. Cornell reached the national championship game last season before falling to Maryland,
The all-time series is tied at 9-9-3. The Mountain Hawks last defeated Cornell on April 12, 1916.
Christian Mule' leads the Mountain Hawks with 16 points. He ranks third in the country points per game (8.0). Cornell is led by CJ Kirst, who was the 2022 Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Kirst recorded six points in the season–opener.
Averaging 19.50 points in the first two games, Lehigh ranks fourth in the country in points per game. The Mountain Hawks are averaging 52 shots per game and holding teams to just 34.5 shots.
This will be Lehigh's first of two straight road games. The Mountain Hawks don't return home until March. 7 against Binghamton.
