Mountain Hawks Travel South for Savannah Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh women's basketball will travel south to play in the Savannah Invitational at Enmarket Arena, starting with a game against Marist on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., followed by a game against Bowling Green on Thursday at 9 a.m. Both games will not be streamed, but Marist will air Wednesday's game on radio. 

Junior guard Ella Stellar was named the Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 22.5 points, four rebounds and two steals in Lehgh's two wins last week. 

Lehigh is 4-0 after defeating Yale 90-75. Friday's win against the Bulldogs marked the highest scoring output for the Mountain Hawks this season. They shot 50% from the field and outscored Yale 30-15 in the fourth quarter after things were tied at 60 at the end of the third quarter. 

Colleen McQuillen had a team-high of 21 points. Through four games this season, Lehigh has had a different leading scorer in each game. 

Marist is 2-1 this season. The Red Foxes two wins have both been against Patriot League foes. Marist beat Army 76-68 in the season opener and defeated Lafayette 84-76 on Nov. 15. Marist's only loss this season was to Penn. 

The Red Foxes have four players averaging double figures. Zaria Shazer leads the way for Marist with 20.3 points per game, Julia Coresentino is averaging 12.0 points per game, Jackie Piddock is next with 11.3 points per game, and Kiara Fisher is averaging 10 points per game. 

Wednesday's game against Marist marks the first meeting between the two teams since 2005. The series is tied 3-3. The Mountain Hawks have lost the last two meetings. 

Bowling Green also comes into the Savannah Invitational with a 2-1 record. The Falcons have beaten Purdue Northwest and Cleveland State. Their only loss came to Texas State in their most recent game. 

The Falcons have three players averaging double figures. Lexi Fleming is putting up a team-high of 15.3 points per game, Army Velasco is averaging 15.0 points per game and Paige Kholer is next with 13.3 points per game. 

Lehigh is 1-1 all-time against Bowling Green. Lehigh won the last meeting 77-74 in 2004. 

Following the Savannah Invitational, Lehigh returns home to Stabler Arena on Tuesday to face Drexel. Game time is slated for 6 p.m.
