SAVANNAH, Ga. - Lehigh women's basketball bested Marist 82-64 on the first day of the Savannah Invitational at Enmarket Arena to move to 5-0 on the season. Lehigh's 5-0 record is the best start since the 2019-20 season, where the Mountain Hawks started the season 5-0.

"The message at halftime was that we have to respect Marist - they're a really good team, and they're going to make shots," Micir said. "That's what they did to us in the first half. When they got an open look, they knocked it down, so we talked about the adjustments we needed to make in terms of being there on the catch and being ready to defend. We also talked about our shot selection. We are a green light team, but we wanted to get the ball inside and out."
Stemmer recorded 13 of her 21 points in the first half. The reigning Patriot League Player of the week made four three-pointers for the third straight game.
Lehigh had its best shooting performance in the third quarter, going 55.8% from the field.
The Mountain Hawks outscored the Red Foxes 31-20 to take a 65-52 lead heading into the final frame. O'Brien's buzzer beater shot gave Lehigh the 13-point lead.
Lehigh continued to expand its lead in the fourth quarter. Julianna Ouimette made a free throw with 1:28 remaining to put the Mountain Hawks up by 20, which would be the largest lead of the game.
Lehigh held a 46-28 advantage in the paint. Lehigh also held a 41-33 advantage on the boards.
Julia Corsentino and Jackie Piddock both tallied 13 points for the Red Foxes.
The Mountain Hawks shot 30-for-68 from the field (44.1%), and the Red Foxes shot 22-for-58 (37.9%).
The Mountain Hawks will look to keep it going when they take on Bowling Green on Thursday at 9 a.m.
"This is a team that loves being loose and fun, but they're also really focused," Micir said. "We're going to go eat a good postgame meal and watch some film. This group is going to go get a good night sleep, and we practice in the mornings due to class schedules, so this is a crew that is used to it and resilient."
