Stemmer Named Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. Lehigh women's basketball's Ella Stemmer was named the Patriot League Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.Â
This is the first time Stemmer has earned Patriot League honors. The junior guard had an incredible two games for Lehigh last week to help secure two wins and an undefeated 4-0 record for Lehigh.
Against Delaware, Stemmer had a career-high of 26 points, and she scored the game-winning basket for Lehigh with 2:43 to play. Stemmer's basket would end up giving Lehigh the 78-72 lead, and the Mountain Hawks would not score after that, but they held Delaware to just five points from there to help give them the win.
Stemmer followed that up with another double digit performance against Yale, recording 19 points. In Lehigh's two games last week, Stemmer tallied eight three-pointers after shooting 42% from beyond the arc.Â
Stemmer is averaging a team high of 15.3 points per game. Stemmer and Lehigh will travel down South for the Savannah Invitational.Â
The Mountain Hawks take on Marist on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. and Bowling Green on Thursday at 9 a.m. There will be no streaming video of the two games in Savannah, but Marist will air Wednesday's game on radio.
