Shuey Garners Third Patriot League Nod, Lehigh Hosts Bucknell on Wednesday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Graduate student Ryelle Shuey was named Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is Shuey's third time earning the honor this season.

The Schaefferstown, Pa. native played a critical role in Lehigh's 1-0 win over Loyola on Saturday. Shuey held the Patriot League's leading scorer Baylee DeSmit scoreless and limited her to four shots with two on target.Â

In the 86th minute, Shuey scored the game-winner with a header off a free-kick from senior Emma Roesing. The graduate student now has four goals on the year.

Saturday's win propelled the Mountain Hawks to a Patriot League Tournament berth, with Wednesday's games determining final standings.

First-year goalkeeper R'Reeyah Mabry-Francis was named an honorable mention following her collegiate debut in the final 21:32, making two saves and preserving the shutout.

The Mountain Hawks (7-4-4, 4-3-1 PL) welcome Bucknell on Wednesday at 7 p.m. for the final regular season contest at Ulrich Sports Complex. Wednesday's results from across the league will determine placement heading into the Patriot League Tournament. Lehigh clinched a berth with the win over Loyola and can secure a home game in the tournament with a win over the Bison.Â

The Bison (10-3-4, 4-1-3 PL) sit in second place in the league behind Army. Bucknell leads the all-time series 18-13-5, tying Lehigh 1-1 last season. Senior Ava Schaller scored the lone goal for the Mountain Hawks. Bucknell's Teresa Deda currently leads the offense with seven goals and seven assists.
