WASHINGTON - The Lehigh women's soccer team picked up three points in the league with a 4-1 win over American on Sunday afternoon.
Â
"It's always great to get a win in the Patriot League on the road against a tough opponent," said head coach Lauren Calabrese. "Today, we showed that there are multiple people on our team who can score goals."
Â
The four-goal effort was spurred by sophomore Sophia Lis, senior Ava Schaller, junior Faith Dobosiewicz and first-year Mia Tuckwood who scored the first of her career. The Mountain Hawks tied their season-high (4) in goals that was set in the 4-2Â win over St. John's on September 9.
Â
Lehigh jumped out in front early, with Lis netting the first goal in the 17th minute. Schaller struck in the 22nd minute giving Lehigh a 2-0 lead that carried into intermission.
Â
In the 80th minute, Tuckwood connected with a header on a free-kick by senior Emma Roesing to tally her first collegiate goal and give Lehigh a 3-0 lead.Â
Â
American got on the board in the 82nd minute, as Lailah Stewart decreased the Mountain Hawk lead to 3-1.
Â
Dobosiewicz scored her fourth of the season in the 85th minute to solidify the 4-1 victory.
Â
Sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Ousouljoglou played all 90 minutes in net, making no saves. American's Julia Kato picked up six saves on the afternoon.Â
Â
Lehigh outshot the Eagles 13-6, with a 10-2 advantage in the opening 45. The Mountain Hawks also out-cornered American 11-4 in the game.
