Keene’s First Goal Lifts Lehigh Over Colgate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - First-year Carly Keene netted the first goal of her collegiate career to give Lehigh a 1-0 win over Colgate on Wednesday night at Ulrich Sports Complex.
"Tonight was another collective team effort and we got the result," said head coach Lauren Calabrese. "I'm super happy for Carly on getting her first collegiate goal. The back line and Maggie were clutch with getting the shutout."
Keene's goal was a first-year affair with classmate Aminah Baruwa providing the assist.
The opening half was a battle between the teams, with Colgate having a slim 4-2 lead in shots. Lehigh was able to put two on goal while the Raiders shot all four off-target.
In the 32nd minute, Colgate goalkeeper Alli Popham came out towards the edge of the box to play Keene as the first-year put the ball past her and into the net giving Lehigh a 1-0 lead.
The Mountain Hawks and Colgate both recorded five shots apiece in the second half with junior Corinne Lyght and senior Ava Schaller nearly capitalizing on separate opportunities. Lehigh held on to secure the 1-0 win and improve to 2-3-1 in Patriot League play.
Sophomore goalkeeper Maggie Ousouljoglou made three saves in net while Popham also stopped three.
