McKoy Breaks Two School Records, Leads Mountain Hawks' Successful Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Teasha McKoy has had her eye on a school record since her first-year as a Mountain Hawk. On Friday and Saturday, McKoy finally claimed her prize, grabbing the school record in both the weight throw and shot put at the Monmouth Invitational. The senior finished first overall in both the weight throw (18.96m) and shot put (14.52m) while setting a facility record at the OceanFirst Bank Center in the weight throw as well.
The Mountain Hawks competed at the Rutgers Open and Monmouth Invitational and McKoy was one of the 29 athletes to finish the two meet weekend with a new PR. On top of two school records, Lehigh added seven athletes to the top ten all-time list.
Lehigh's throws group finished the Monmouth Invitational with impressive marks. Sophomore Karina Roze (13.84m) and junior Emma Harrington (13.69m) both grabbed new PRs in the weight throw. Senior Bree Smentowski (10.38m) and first-year Giuliana Bottino (10.32m) both grabbed a PR in the shot on Saturday as well.
On Friday, four Mountain Hawks grabbed PRs in the triple jump at the Monmouth Invitational. First-year Casey Talamini-Kelemen led the way for Lehigh, tying her PR of 11.69m and finishing first overall. Junior Rachel Sequeira (11.54m) and sophomore Nina Cialone (11.52m) were not far behind, both grabbing PRs and finishing fourth and fifth respectively. First-years Lillian Mauger (10.86m) and Lauren Roy (10.32m) had successful weekends, both finishing with new PRs in the triple jump as well.
First-year Keisha Modi finished second in the long jump with a new PR of 5.61m on Saturday. Mauger followed suit, finishing fourth with a PR of 5.39m. Roy (5.24m) and sophomore Rachel Caldwell-Glixon (4.94m) also earned PRs in the long jump on Saturday.
On the track side, the distance group continued to show signs of improvement. First-year Savanah Beavers started the Mountain Hawks off on Friday at the Rutgers Open. Beavers finished the 5000m with a new PR of 18:05.90.
Following Beavers was the mile group, where four of the five Lehigh runners grabbed new PRs at the Rutgers Open. Senior Jamie Zamrin led the way for Lehigh, finishing 15th with a time of 4:59.42. Junior Annalise Davis followed suit, finishing at 5:05.69. Sophomores Abigail Tenreiro and Grace Kolbe also grabbed PRs in the mile, finishing with times of 5:21.58 and 5:29.91, respectively.
In the 1000m, senior Kara Bonner continued to add impressive times to her Lehigh career. Bonner finished fifth in the 1000m with a time of 2:54.66. First-year Lauryn Heskin grabbed a new PR in the 1000m as well, finishing with a time of 2:58.43.
On Saturday, the distance group continued to have impressive performances at the Rutgers Open. Starting with the 800m, all four Mountain Hawks who competed finished the race with a new PR. Leading the way were seniors Jade Sessions (2:11.60) and Julia Dorley (2:12.18) who finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Senior Hetty McMillan (2:12.56) and junior Elena Perez-Segnini (2:16.92) added two more PRs for Lehigh in the 800m.
On the sprints side, sophomores Simone Davey Jordyn Hock had impressive performances for the Mountain Hawks. The duo finished the 400 with new PRs of 1:01.93 and 1:00.12, respectively. Hock added another PR in the 200m where she finished with a time of 26.33. Junior Ashley Griesmeyer also earned a PR in the 200m with a time of 26.96.
The Mountain Hawks will head to the Bucknell Tune Up on Friday, Feb. 18 for their last meet of the indoor season before the Patriot League Championships.
