
Four Mountain Hawks Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - While the Lehigh women's soccer team wrapped up its season just a few weeks ago, the Mountain Hawks continue to earn more awards. Graduate student Erin Keefe, senior Mattie Murphy, junior Emma Roesing and sophomore Corinne Lyght were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, announced by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday afternoon.Â
The Academic All-District teams, selected by the College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better and be a starter or key reserve.
Keefe is a five-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. The graduate-student graduated with a cumulative grade point average of 3.65 in psychology. Keefe currently holds a 4.0 in her elementary education graduate program.Â
On the field, Keefe played a crucial role on the backline for the Mountain Hawks this season. The Basking Ridge, N.J. native scored her first collegiate goal in Lehigh's 1-0 over St. John's on Sept. 11. Keefe helped the Mountain Hawks earn six shut-out wins this season and was named third team All-Patriot League.Â
Murphy currently owns a 3.68 cumulative grade point average in biology. The Apex, N.C native is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and has been named to the Dean's List several times throughout her career.Â
During her senior season, Murphy led Lehigh with three assists. She scored her first collegiate goal against Penn on Sept. 4 and followed up with her second goal of the season on Oct. 7 in Lehigh's historic 2-0 win over Navy. Murphy's stellar senior season led to her being named third team All-Patriot League.Â
Roesing, who has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll twice throughout her career at Lehigh, currently owns a 3.86 cumulative grade point average in biology. The Ambler, Pa. native started every game for the Mountain Hawks this season, assisting in Lehigh's six shutout wins.Â
Lyght, who was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, had a stellar sophomore season for Lehigh. The sophomore earned first team All-Patriot League honors and was named Academic All-Patriot League as well. The Scotch Plains, N.J. native currently has a 4.0 in business.Â
On the field, Lyght led the team and the Patriot League with seven goals this season. She ranked third in shots (51), shots on goal (25) and points (15). Lyght finished the season scoring five goals in the final eight games of the season.Â
The Lehigh women's soccer team finished the regular season with an overall record of 8-6-3 and league record of 5-2-2, securing a No. 4 seed in the Patriot League Tournament. The Mountain Hawks hosted Navy in the quarterfinals, defeating the Midshipmen 4-0 at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Lehigh faced No. 1 seed Army in the semifinals, falling to the Black Knights 2-0 at West Point, N.Y. on Nov. 3.
