Cassese Announces Addition of Alex Ready as Assistant Coach

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – With preseason practice and the 2022 campaign quickly approaching, Lehigh head men's lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese announced on Friday the addition of former 2019 Denver graduate and Big East Goalie of the Year Alex Ready as assistant coach. Among many duties, Ready will work closely with the Mountain Hawks' goaltenders, who are led by 2021 honorable mention All-American James Spence.

"I am very excited to welcome Alex Ready to the Lehigh Lacrosse coaching staff," said Lehigh head coach Kevin Cassese. "Alex enjoyed a terrific collegiate career as a goaltender at the University of Denver under Coach Bill Tierney and he has competed on the biggest professional stage our sport has to offer (the PLL) the last couple of years as well. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will be incredibly valuable to our goaltenders, our defense and our entire team. His impact will be immediate and he will hit the ground running when we open training camp on January 20."

After college, Ready went on to play professional lacrosse in the Premier Lacrosse League for both Chrome LC and Whipsnakes LC.

Ready comes in with experience coaching as well, having served as National Director of Crease Coach Goalie training where he organized goalie camps, clinics and individual training sessions around the United States. Ready has also served as Director and Founder of Rise Lacrosse, which operates youth and high school lacrosse events, skills training and club teams in Central Pennsylvania. He's responsible for event operations, online registrations, website design and financial records, along with on-field instruction and program curriculum.

Lehigh returns a strong core from last season's team, including its top five scorers, and the majority of its defense, led by Teddy Leggett and Anthony Tangredi. Along with Leggett returning for a fifth year, so is Spence, who was named an honorable All-American last season. First team All-American Mike Sisselberger returns in the faceoff circle following an NCAA record-breaking season, winning 79.5 percent of his faceoffs (225-of-283) with a program-record 160 groundballs

A Pennsylvania native, Ready is originally from Lancaster and Manheim Township High School. During his first collegiate season in 2016, Ready jumped into the starting goaltender role for defending national champion Denver and wouldn't disappoint, finishing the season 13-3 with a 51.8 save percentage to earn Big East Goalie of the Year honors. A year later, Ready helped lead the Pioneers to the 2017 NCAA Final Four, garnering All-Big East recognition for the second straight season. Ready finished his career second in program Division I history for both wins (37) and saves (438).
