Mountain Hawks Set To Host Fall Invitational This Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's tennis team will host its annual Fall Invitational Sept. 25-26 at the Ulrich Varsity Courts and inside the Lewis Tennis Center on Goodman Campus.
Lehigh welcomes Patriot League rivals Army West Point and Colgate, plus Fairfield for the upcoming invitational. The first matches will begin at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
Last time out, Lehigh competed at the Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational, Sept. 10-12 in Annapolis, Md., where the Mountain Hawks claimed one flight championship and three consolation bracket titles on the weekend. The invitational featured three doubles flights and five singles flights.
Sophomores Anushka Dania and Megha Dania led Lehigh as they had a hand in three of the Mountain Hawks' bracket victories. Anushka Dania went 3-0, claiming the Flight E singles bracket, and Megha Dania claimed three wins after an early loss.
Juniors Ella Imhof and Junmoke James bounced back after a loss to take the consolation bracket title in doubles action. They beat a team from Fairleigh Dickinson 8-6 in a tiebreak to win 8-7. Both Imhof and James held the No. 2 and No. 3 singles positions, respectively during the spring tennis season.
James and freshman Hamsa Javagal both advanced to the championship quarterfinals at the Flight B singles.
Saturday's competition will begin with a singles round against Colgate followed by a doubles round against Army, and then another singles round against Fairfield.Â
On Sunday, Lehigh will begin with doubles against Fairfield and then will face Army in singles before closing out the weekend with doubles against Colgate.
Following this weekend's invitational, Lehigh will send players to the ITA Regionals in West Point, N.Y. Oct. 1-3.
