ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Lehigh women's tennis team kicked off its fall season at Navy's Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational, which wrapped up Sunday at the Brigade Sports Complex. Seven Mountain Hawks competed over the three day event, with Lehigh claiming one flight championship and three consolation bracket titles on the weekend.
The sophomore duo of Anushka Dania and Megha Dania led the way as they had a hand in three of Lehigh's four bracket wins. Anushka Dania went 3-0 to win the Flight E singles bracket, while Megha came back from an opening round loss to post three wins to capture the consolation side of Flight D. Together, the Dania sisters reeled off three consecutive wins after an opening round loss to win the B doubles flight.
Lehigh's other bracket win came at A doubles, where juniors Junmoke James and Ella Imhof rebounded from a first round loss to take the consolation bracket title. They defeated a team from Fairleigh Dickinson 8-6 in a tiebreak to win 8-7.
James and freshman Hamsa Javagal both advanced to the championship quarterfinals at Flight B singles.
Sophomore Rachel Buchinsky and senior Anshika Singh both went 1-2 in singles play, with Buchinsky at Flight A and Singh at Flight C.
