Mountain Hawks have their season end in PL Quarterfinal loss to Bucknell

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Lehigh women's tennis team had its season end on Friday afternoon in the Patriot League Quarterfinals. The Mountain Hawks dropped the match to the No. 5 seed Bucknell Bison by a score of 4-2. The Brown and White had won the previous five meetings between the two schools.

The Bison jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by obtaining the doubles point. Bucknell's top pair of Daniela Bellini and Cayla Koch defeated Paula Gonzalez and Leighanna Moskos, 6-0. Ella Imhof and Casey Zhong dropped their match at the No. spot to their opponents, 6-2. Anshika Singh and Junmoke James had a 5-2 lead in their match before it was stopped.

In singles. Imhof and Zhong recorded the lone wins for the Mountain Hawks. Imhof breezed to a win in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3, while Zhong recovered from a tough first set to take the final two to win, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3.

The sophomore James suffered a tough three-set loss at the No. 2 spot for the Mountain Hawks. After taking the first set 7-6, James dropped the next two sets and drew the defeat. The sophomore Buchinsky was another player who fell in a three-set loss. After splitting the first two sets at the No. 4 spot, Buchinsky's heartbreaking 7-6 loss in the third set was the clinching point for Bucknell.

The senior Gonzalez was just beginning the third set in her match at the top spot before the match was stopped.
