BETHLEHEM, Pa. – On a day in which they honored its seniors Paula Gonzalez, Casey Zhong and Catherine Meighan, the Lehigh women's tennis team (4-3, 3-2) suffered a 7-0 loss to the Army West Point Black Knights. Lehigh is still searching for its first-ever win over Army West Point.
On a cool, breezy day, the Mountain Hawks began the day by dropping the doubles point to the Black Knights. At the No. 3 spot, Zhong and Ella Imhof defeated their opponents by a score of 6-4. Despite the win at the third spot, Army took the win at the No. 1 and No. 2 spot to secure the doubles point. Paula Gonzalez and Leighanna Moskos dropped a competitive 7-5 bout to their competitors at the top spot, while Junmoke James and Anshika Singh lost 6-4.
In singles play, the Black Knights took all six matches and proved to be too much for the Mountain Hawks. The sophomore Imhof suffered a tough defeat in the second set of her match and dropped her bout in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6 (4). At the top spot, the senior Gonzalez dropped her match by a score of 6-4, 6-1, while Zhong lost her No. 4 match by straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
