Lehigh's roster includes three wrestlers who have been recognized as All-Americans, plus four EIWA champions and 10 men that have competed at the NCAA Championships. Senior Jordan Wood, junior Jaret Land and freshman Malyke Hines all won EIWA titles last year, with Wood becoming a four-time EIWA champion. Two-time EIWA champion Josh Humphreys, a 2020 NWCA first team All-American, returns after missing all of last season due to injury.

Â
Heavyweight Jordan Wood returns for his sixth season in the brown and white. Wood came out of a planned Olympic redshirt in January and went 9-3 last season. He won his fourth straight individual EIWA championship at 285, becoming Lehigh's fifth four-time EIWA champion (and first since 1983) and the first heavyweight to win four EIWA titles. Wood is a two-time All-American, finishing fourth in 2019 and earning second team honors in 2020. He owns a 73-20 career record and enters this season with a chance to become the first five-time EIWA champion in conference history.
Â
Freshman Malyke Hines went 8-3 in 2021 winning an EIWA title at 133 and going 2-2 in his first appearance at the NCAA Championships. One of two freshmen to win an EIWA crown last year, Hines was named the EIWA's Freshman of the Year last spring. A three-time state champion at Osceola High School in Florida, Hines joined Jordan Wood (2018) and Josh Humphreys (2019) as recent freshman EIWA champions for the Mountain Hawks.
Â
Lehigh's lineup will be bolstered by the return of two wrestlers who missed the entire 2021 season due to injury. The last time junior Josh Humphreys competed, he captured his second consecutive EIWA title at 157 and won the Coaches' Trophy as the Outstanding Wrestler at the 2020 EIWA Tournament. Humphreys was seeded seventh at the 2020 NCAA Championships and earned first team NWCA All-America honors. He owns a 40-13 career record. Junior Dan Moran also returns after missing all of last season. Moran wrestled in seven duals in 2019-20 competing mostly at 141. He owns a 22-11 career record.
Â
Eight Lehigh wrestlers appear in the various preseason national rankings, released by InterMat, FloWrestling, Amateur Wrestling News and The Open Mat. Three Mountain Hawks are ranked by all four services: freshman Malyke Hines, junior Josh Humphreys and senior Jordan Wood. Hines is ranked at 141 by three of the four outlets although he is expected to compete at 133. Humphreys is ranked in the top 10 by all four outlets at 157, while Wood comes in between eight and 13 at 285. Junior Jaret Lane (125) and senior Brandon Paetzell (133) appear in three sets of rankings, while freshman Jake Logan (174) appears in two. Junior Jimmy Hoffman and sophomore Brian Meyer are ranked only by InterMat, which now ranks wrestlers 1-33.
Â
The three-time defending Southern Conference champions, Campbell won its season-opening 47-6 dual over Montreat on Wednesday. The Camels went 8-1 in 2020-21, with their only dual loss coming to Virginia Tech. Campbell qualified seven wrestlers for the NCAA Championships, with Austin Murphy leading the way by reaching the All-America round of 12 at 174. Six of the seven Camel NCAA qualifiers are back with Murphy owning the highest InterMat ranking at No. 12. In total four Camels are ranked by InterMat with Josh Heil (149) and brothers Caleb (184) and Levi (197) Hopkins joining Murphy. Scotti Sentes is in his second season as the head coach at Campbell.
Â
This will be the first all-time meeting between Lehigh and Campbell in wrestling. The Fighting Camels have won the last two Southern Conference titles. Lehigh is 7-0 all-time in duals against Southern Conference opponents, going 1-0 against both Appalachian State and The Citadel, and 5-0 versus VMI. The Mountain Hawks' last dual against a SoCon opponent was a 36-3 win over Appalachian State on Nov. 29, 2008 at the Journeymen Northeast Duals.
Â
Oregon State opens its season by hosting Campbell and Lehigh. The Beavers went 4-5 in duals last season, finished second in the Pac 12 and qualified six wrestlers for the NCAA Championships in St. Louis. Oregon State returns a pair of Pac 12 champions in Devan Turner (133) and Grant Willits (141). Eight Beavers are ranked in the top 33 by InterMat, led by Willits, who is 10th at 141. All six of Oregon State's NCAA qualifiers return in 2021-22 with all but Ryan Reyes (184) listed among Oregon State's probable starters. Turner met Lehigh's Malyke Hines in the first round of last year's NCAA Tournament, with Hines winning an 8-0 major decision. Chris Pendleton is in his second season as Oregon State's head coach.
Â
Lehigh and Oregon State have met 10 previous times with the Beavers holding a 7-3 lead. Oregon State has won the last two duals. Lehigh is visiting Corvallis for just the third time. The Mountain Hawks lost duals to the Beavers at Gill Coliseum on Dec. 31, 1995 and Jan. 23, 2014. Lehigh's last win over Oregon State came at the Aloha Duals in Hawaii in November 2003.
