Lehigh Looks to Bounce Back Wednesday Night vs. Colgate

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's soccer team will look to bounce back from consecutive defeats when it returns home to host Colgate on Wednesday in a critical Patriot League showdown. Opening kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+. The Mountain Hawks and Raiders are currently in a four-way tie for fifth place at 2-2-1, seven points, with four league contests remaining.
Lehigh is coming off a 2-1 loss at Navy Friday night. The Midshipmen scored just 1:23 in, but the Mountain Hawks responded at the 5:17 mark as senior Courtney Supp put home a corner kick. Sophomore Alex Odle took the kick, which senior Rebecca Van Siclen headed over to Supp, whose ensuing header found the back of the net.
The Mountain Hawks continued to pressure, holding an 11-5 first-half edge in shots, but Navy responded with a 7-2 second-half shots advantage – one of which found the back of the net – at 65:00.
Supp's goal was her third of the season, which is tied for second on the team (with junior Julianna Bonner… only behind sophomore Ava Schaller's four). Freshman goalkeeper Abby Trainor made four saves on Friday, and currently owns a 1.53 goals against average and 72.4 save percentage.
Colgate stands 6-6-1 overall. The Raiders have lost two straight – at Cornell and Army West Point – each by 2-1 finals. Their Patriot League victories have come over Boston University (1-0) and Bucknell (3-0). Hannah Pinkus leads Colgate in goals (5, tied) and points (13) while Ruby Diodati has a team-leading four assists. Ally Giovino has also scored five goals. A pair of goalkeepers have seen significant action, led by Grace Poncsak, who owns a 0.93 GAA and 80.6 save percentage in 678:18.
The Raiders lead the all-time series, 20-8-5. The Mountain Hawks are 1-0-2 over the last three meetings; the teams have tied the last two contests, with Lehigh picking up a 2-1 victory in the 2018 Patriot League Semifinals.
After Wednesday's contest, Lehigh will hit the road on Saturday to face Loyola. Opening kickoff is 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
