Navy's victory snapped a nine-dual winning streak for the Mountain Hawks in the series and was Lehigh's first loss in the series since 2011. Jaret Lane and Malyke Hines opened the dual with wins by decision, by 1-0 and 2-0 scores, respectively. Freshman Jake Logan added a 7-4 decision over Dean Caravela at 174 for Lehigh's third win of the dual. Logan had three of Lehigh's four takedowns in the dual. The trip to Annapolis also featured 21 extra matches, with Lehigh wrestlers winning eight of those extra bouts. Hines and Logan both picked up a second victory in the extra matches. Â
Lehigh's lineup will receive a boost with the anticipated return of heavyweight Jordan Wood, who has decided to forego his Olympic redshirt to compete in this 2021 season. Wood will bid to become Lehigh's fifth four-time EIWA champion. Wood went 17-5 last season and was a second team NWCA All-American. The two-time All-American owns a 64-17 career record at Lehigh. Wood spent his fall semester active in freestyle and was eligible for the Olympic redshirt by way of winning a Cadet world silver medal in 2014.
