Program-record 41 Mountain Hawks named to Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's lacrosse team enjoyed success on the field in 2020, posting a 5-1 record in the shortened campaign. The Mountain Hawks were also stellar in the classroom, placing a program-record 41 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced on Monday. The 41 honorees shattered the previous record of 29 set last season.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.

In total, four different Mountain Hawks posted a 4.0 GPA this spring – senior Austin Pierce (Finance), senior Daniel Rivera (Finance), junior Teddy Leggett (Bioengineering) and sophomore Mike Sisselberger (Arts and Sciences). Seven student-athletes in total tallied a GPA over 3.9. Along with the four 4.0s was senior and three-time Academic All-American Conor Gaffney (Mechanical Engineering and Finance), senior Parker Kent (Finance) and freshman Charlie Peck (Business) with GPAs of 3.95, 3.91 and 3.91, respectively.

Lehigh's 41 honorees were second most in the Patriot League, only behind Colgate who had 43.

Lehigh was in the midst of an impressive season in 2020, standing 5-1 and 2-0 in league play, following a 15-10 win over Holy Cross on Mar. 7. The Mountain Hawks ended the year with four straight victories, also beating VMI, NJIT and Navy prior to the win over the Crusaders. Lehigh was ranked No. 19 in the final Maverick Media Poll.
