BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time in her young career, Lehigh women's lacrosse freshman Gabby Schneider has been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced Monday. Schneider exploded in Saturday's 17-13 win over Monmouth, posting career highs in goals (4), assists (5) (tied) and points (9). Schneider and the Mountain Hawks will quickly return to action on Tuesday, hosting La Salle. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m. on the Patriot League Network.
Schneider's nine points were most by a Mountain Hawk since Courtney Henig last April at Bucknell and most by a Lehigh player at home since Alli LaBeau in the 2017 Patriot League Quarterfinals. The nine points were tied for the fourth most by any player in the nation this season. Schneider had seven first-half points (three goals, four assists). For the season, she owns seven goals and 18 points through five games. Schneider's 3.60 assists per game are currently tied for fourth nationally.

Cermack filled up the stat sheet with two groundballs, four draw controls, four caused turnovers and a goal. In Saturday's game against the Hawks, the Mountain Hawks trailed 7-4, but ended the first half on a 7-0 run and wouldn't trail the rest of the way.
Lehigh is now 2-0 at home on the young season, both wins over MAAC opponents. Next up, the Mountain Hawks host La Salle on Tuesday. The Explorers are 2-3 on the year, most recently beating Radford by a 12-5 final. La Salle's other win was at Bucknell, 12-11. Bridget Ruskey leads the team in points with 18 behind 11 goals and seven assists. Emily Johnston also has 11 goals and an assist for 12 points. Madi McKee is in double figures as well with 10 points via eight goals and two assists. Priya Kavuru leads the defense with nine caused turnovers while Johnston owns a team-leading 25 draw controls. Two goalkeepers have each started multiple games, led by Molly Loughlin who owns an 8.60 goals against average and 48.8 save percentage in 153:27.
The Mountain Hawks are 5-4 all-time against La Salle, most recently playing on Mar. 24, 2009, a 20-7 Lehigh win. The Mountain Hawks also won the year prior at La Salle. Lehigh captured the first-ever meeting in the series, 18-6 on Mar. 18, 1999.
