
Women's Tennis concludes spring break trip with loss to Emory University

MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Lehigh women's tennis team concluded its spring break trip on Wednesday, as the Mountain Hawks were topped by the Emory Eagles, 6-1. The Mountain Hawks combined to go 1-2 over the last four days down in Florida.
The Brown and White were coming off an off day after previously defeating St. Thomas Aquinas on Monday, 7-0.
Lehigh, now 6-6 overall, had to fight from behind in today's match against the Eagles, as Emory University took the doubles point with two wins. At the No. 2 spot, Junmoke James and Ella Imhof claimed the lone win in doubles for the Mountain Hawks, winning by a score of 8-1. At the No. 3 spot, Casey Zhong and Anshika Singh were close to squeaking out a victory, however couldn't manage to sneak it out, falling 8-5.
Trailing 1-0 going into singles, Lehigh's Sibel Can mustered up the lone win for Lehigh with a straight set victory at the No. 1 spot against Emory's Defne Olcay, 6-3, 6-2.
At the No., 3 spot, the freshman James fought a back-and-forth battle with the Eagles' Christina Wason. After dropping the first set, James executed and won the second set, while then falling in the third set to fall in a three-setter, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3. Imhof in the No. 5 spot also fell in a three-setter, as the freshman took the first set but then dropped the next two to ultimately lose, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5.
Up next, the Mountain Hawks return home to face the Delaware Blue Hens inside the Lewis Indoor Tennis Center at 1:00 p.m.
