BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's rowing team will cap off its season this weekend when it competes in the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. Racing begins on Friday and runs through Saturday. The Mountain Hawks will have entries in the Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Junior Varsity Four.

Last season at Dad Vails, Lehigh placed second and third, respectively in a pair of third-level finals (Second Varsity Eight and Junior Varsity Four) while the Varsity Eight placed fifth in an extremely tight petite final.

"Our goals this weekend are to finish better than last year," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. "If we are progressing in the right direction, then we should also see that in the results. I'm excited to see what happens on the weekend."

The Mountain Hawks are definitely progressing this season, and have been working all year to be at their best for their championship race. It wasn't always easy along the way, but the team is significantly improved now compared to the beginning of the season.

"I think from where we started in the fall, we've definitely overcome a lot of obstacles, and the team has worked hard to put themselves in a competitive position," said Conley. "We started the spring a little slower than we would've liked, but the progress has been great each week."

Most recently, the Mountain Hawks competed against Temple, Delaware and Rutgers on the Schuylkill River, with the Varsity Eight finishing third – ahead of Delaware.

"Our biggest strength for the men is our youth," said Conley. "We are still a young group, so we have plenty to develop. It is also the thing we have to be most aware of when we line up. We don't want to let our nerves get the best of us, and I believe this group does that well."
