Dickey named IWLCA All-Region for second straight season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After another stellar season on the field, Lehigh women's lacrosse junior Sondra Dickey has been named second team IWLCA All-Region for a second straight season, as announced on Tuesday. Dickey has racked in the honors in 2019, also being named first team All-Patriot League and garnering the team's Athlete of the Year award for a second straight season.

Dickey is only Lehigh's second multi-time IWLCA All-Region honoree since the turn of the century, joining Lauren Dykstra, who was a three-time winner, winning it in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Dickey ended the 2019 as the team leader in goals (53), points (67), groundballs (34), caused turnovers (28) and draw controls (78) while adding 14 assists as well. Tremendous all over the field, Dickey scored multiple goals in the final 11 games of the season and 16-of-17 games in 2019. She had five or more points five different times. A three-time Patriot League Midfielder of the Week in 2019 (winning it seven times over the last two seasons), Dickey caused a career-high five turnovers in the regular-season finale vs. American, a dominant 20-3 Mountain Hawks' victory to send them to the Patriot League Tournament. Dickey tied the school record for draw controls with 10 on Mar. 30 vs. Army West Point and went on to record five or more in each of the next five games.

Dickey finished as the only Patriot League player top five in the league in points/game (3.94), caused turnovers/game (1.65) and draw controls/game (4.59). No other player stood top five in even two of those categories. Her 78 total draw controls were just eight from tying the school record for a season, while she ended the season with 169 for her career to tie Kayleen Kelly's program record.

Lehigh ended its season winning four of its last five games. Standing 0-5 in the Patriot League, the Mountain Hawks fought back to win four straight and qualify for their sixth straight Patriot League Tournament, capped off by a dominant 20-3 win over American in the regular season finale.
