BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second consecutive year, Lehigh's Owen Quinn has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team for men's golf. The junior once again led the Mountain Hawks on the course, where he owns a team-best 73.65 stroke average, and in the classroom, where he carries a 3.78 grade point average in accounting.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor. The team is voted on by the league's sports information directors.
The two-time Academic All-League honoree is also a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Quinn has won the Lehigh men's golf team's Scholar-Athlete Award in each of his first two seasons in the brown and white. The Holden, Mass., native has made Lehigh's Dean's List with a GPA of 3.6 or better in four of his first five semesters at Lehigh.
On the course, Quinn was Lehigh's top finisher in six tournaments in 2018-19, highlighted by a win at the Lehigh Invitational in late October. The individual victory was the second of Quinn's career. Quinn posted top 10 finishes at the Matthews Auto Collegiate Invitational, the UConn Invitational at Greathorse and the Wildcat Invitational. He finished 33rd at the Patriot League Championship, finishing at 228 (75-80-73), done in by that second round 80.
Nick Turner of Army West Point won his second straight Scholar-Athlete of the Year award for men's golf. Turner and Quinn are joined on the Academic All-Patriot League Team by Bucknell's Connor O'Brien, Lafayette's Cole Berger and Loyola's Erick Alonso.
