
Dickey and Sagi pick up Patriot League weekly awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following stellar efforts in the Mountain Hawks' 20-3 win over American during Friday's regular-season finale, Lehigh women's lacrosse junior Sondra Dickey and sophomore Samantha Sagi have been named Patriot League Midfielder and Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced on Monday. The award marks Dickey's third of the year and seventh since the beginning of last season. Sagi's weekly award was her first of the season after winning three awards last year (Defensive Player of the Week twice and Rookie of the Week once).

Dickey continued to fill up the stat sheet Friday, recording three goals, one assist, six draw controls, five groundballs and a career-high five caused turnovers in the rout of American, which sent the Mountain Hawks to their sixth straight Patriot League Tournament. The effort marked Dickey's 10th straight multi-goal game and 15th in 16 regular-season games. Dickey tallied multiple groundballs, caused turnovers and draw controls in each of her last three games of the regular season, helping the Mountain Hawks win their second, third and fourth straight games, respectively. Following Sunday's Patriot League Quarterfinal at Army West Point, Dickey ended the year as the team leader in goals (53), points (67), caused turnovers (28) and draw controls (78). Â
Sagi was strong between the pipes Friday, making seven saves while allowing just three goals. It marked Sagi's fewest goals allowed in a start in her career. She helped hold American to by far its lowest goal total of the season (previous lowest was eight). The Eagles entered the day averaging 11.50 goals per contests, reaching double figures 11 times. Sagi finished her season with an 11.99 GAA and 47.9 save percentage.
Senior Courtney Henig and junior Alexandra Ladda also garnered honorable mention recognitnion on the weekly honor roll. Henig posted four goals and three assists, all in the first half, for her third straight game with 7+ points. Ladda had two caused turnovers and shut down American leading scorer Emma Vinall, who entered with more than 50 goals on the season. Vinall finished Friday's game with just a free-position goal.

Following Sunday's 12-9 Patriot League Quarterfinal defeat, Lehigh ended its season winning four of its last five games. Standing 0-5 in the Patriot League, the Mountain Hawks fought back to win four straight and qualify for their sixth straight Patriot League Tournament, capped off by a dominant 20-3 win over American on Friday.
