Lehigh heads to prestigious Penn Relays before hosting Covert Classic this weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The women's track and field team will travel to The University of Pennsylvania to compete in the Penn Relays on Thursday before hosting the Carol and John Covert Classic at the Goodman Track and Field Complex for senior day on Friday and Saturday.
The Penn Relays begin at 9 a.m. Thursday with the discus throw. Sophomore Brittany Curtin and Olivia Reinheimer are both slated to compete in the discus toss. Curtin broke her own school record in the discus earlier this season with a 49.25m mark.
Three events are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday. Senior Noreen Byrne and junior Erin Racano are competing in the 400m hurdles; senior Tyler Bannister, junior Jordan Otto and sophomore Noa Levy will compete in the high jump; and sophomore Madisyn Hawkins will compete in the pole vault.
Curtin is competing in two events in the afternoon, with the shot put at 12:45 p.m. and the hammer throw at 2:30. Thursday's action concludes for the Mountain Hawks at 8:25 p.m. with the 3000m. Junior Ashleigh Crawford and senior Stephanie Hayes are both running in the 3K event.
Lehigh is hosting the Carol and John Covert Classic, beginning Friday and carrying into Saturday. The meet, formerly known as the Lehigh Games, will honor the program's seniors at the conclusion of Saturday's events.
The Covert Classic begins at 2 p.m. Friday with the hammer throw followed by the javelin.
Saturday's events begin at 10 a.m. with the shot put followed by the discus. The track events begin at 11 a.m. with the 5000m.
Following the men's 4x400m relay at 4:15 p.m., Lehigh will honor the senior class in a senior recognition ceremony. The 13 seniors being honored are Tyler Bannister, Noreen Byrne, Grace Coffman, Armani Comick, Grace Eckstein, Stephanie Hayes, Maura Henderson, Mariah Kozub, Stacie Nadel, Olivia Reinold, Clare Severe, Ashleigh Thurston and Kaitlyn Toman.
